- Re: A new 'Wizard of Oz' could make its way down the Hollywood road
No journey so ideal
as the road long since untaken,
nor present can appeal
like a past we can't awaken.
-- Robert Frigidaire - Re: A new 'Wizard of Oz' could make its way down the Hollywood road
Those are fairly benign compared to 'mistakes made',
'opportunities lost', and What Might Have Been. - Re: Did The Oscars Get Anything Right?
There's also the fact that he retained Geoffrey Fieger, who makes
Breaking Bad's Saul Goodman look like Atticus Finch in terms of
pandering to clients looking for a payday instead of justice. There
are enough SW Asia vet orgs out there that would be glad to take the
case of an abused brother in arms--he chose the worst ambulance chaser - Re: A new 'Wizard of Oz' could make its way down the Hollywood road
My mind's nightmare on the nature of aging in all its dismal glory was
literalized a few years back. I was called over to a house next to my
workplace. I must have made the misake of stepping outside for a
second. The elderly lady who lived in the house had collapsed in the
living room and it was necessary for someone to be with her until the - Re: A new 'Wizard of Oz' could make its way down the Hollywood road
I used to watch Welk with -- respectfully -- my crazy great-aunt...
which, because I was so young, was more a matter of *enforcing* my
tastes. Fortunately, the parodists arrived before the concrete was
set. In my mind's nightmare about retirement homes and Alzheimer's,
Welk is always on the victrola... - Re: CAPITALISM: A LOVE STORY (no spoilers)
You probably cut Moore a bit more slack than I do. But, yeah, I'll
happily watch docs by someone with whom (unlike Moore) I even
violently disagree ...as long as (like Moore) they're engaging and
entertaining. (Well, maybe not 'happily'...) - Re: GREEN ZONE (no spoilers)
IN THE LOOP? Is a ride on the Vomit Comet more entertaining than 'Ode
to Joy'? Go to Metacritic and read GREEN ZONE's page of critics'
synopses. (For god's sake, avoid the reviews themselves... which
spill every bean for what is, first and last, a fast-paced thriller.)
Yeah, GZ is simplistic, but I doubt you'll be receiving it as any more - Re: GREEN ZONE (no spoilers)
It doesn't slander America. It's critical of the government,. I've
never understood you conservatives. You throw a fit when a Hollywood
production castigates the government over something and you call it
anti-American, meanwhile you're all out there doing the same thing,
with your anti-government protests waving your Obama with a Hitler - Re: A new 'Wizard of Oz' could make its way down the Hollywood road
I used to watch Welk when I was younger with my parents. Maybe there
was something coming on after it we were going to watch. That was the
thing about television before cable--you'd be exposed to things you
normally wouldn't be interested in only because there was nothing else
on. So I'd watch Lawrence Welk *and* Soul Train. Now, with the - Re: A new 'Wizard of Oz' could make its way down the Hollywood road
There's a lot of well known books they can't seem to capture properly in
movies. Probably nothing wrong with it, just doesn't seem to capture
the mood very well. Think of the mood and feel of a series like Lost In
Space, that is how to capture the Oz books. - Re: Did The Oscars Get Anything Right?

So maybe she didn't show the quoted text as she claimed to be doing? - Re: CAPITALISM: A LOVE STORY (no spoilers)
I must say I like Michael Moore, although I don't consider him to be a good
journalist the way John Pilger is. He was very subjective, but he presents a
criticism that America needs to hear. I have seen all the other films that
he made, and they were very good, although he he is a bit careless with - Re: GREEN ZONE (no spoilers)
What are you talking about "slandering america"? You mean slandering the
people who set the foreign policies. And i am here refering to Bush. He
deserves all the slander he can get. - Re: Just saw Wrong Side of Town Better or worse than Hard Target?
- Re: CAPITALISM: A LOVE STORY (no spoilers)
You gotta a lots of naive kiddie view. I guess you just a kid.
Moore is not taking about socialism. He is talking about capitalism
of US style that does not work.
NOT all capitalism is same. Remember China is a capitalist nation.
Most Europeans are capititalist. US capitalism at highest level is
actually socialists
