- Re: Florida bill to reward 'family-friendly' films is derided as 1950s-style moral censorship
Government has historically used tax dollars to promote social
stability and 'American Values' with examples of this ranging from
civil marriage, affirmative action, and public funding of PBS.
Liberals love tax credits for programs they support but get pretty
upset when dollars shift to the right. Personally, I don't like tax - Re: HURT LOCKER VANQUISHES AVATAR - PATRIOTISM TRIUMPHS OVER ANTI-AMERICANISM AT THE OSCARS
Which means it must have thousands of insane libs trolling and insult
spamming on it. [God forbid they let one group go without their
fascist intolerance of free speech] - Re: During the Oscars they brought out the cast of a John Hughe's film. One of the actors looked like he had battles with dope or something, he looked fresh out of rehab. Who was that? Jud Nelson?
I'm glad to see we're on the same page on this matter, somewhat.
But even with a script most of them are just so-so. I believe for the
screen we need to get away from the stage. The actor is over-rated
for the screen. All you need is a face and voice with character and
personality without fear of the camera, and someone to tell them what - Re: Variety fires its senior film critic for 31 years,Todd McCarthy
I know there's a lot of wailing about this. It just means that the
venue for literate film critics
(though McCarthy sometimes tended towards dry, Mr. Morality fuddy-
duddiness) will be online
rather than in print--where critics (of the no-benefits freelance
variety) will be pressured to
be depth-free cheerleaders for current product. - Re: Did The Oscars Get Anything Right?
Most of the complaints I've seen have been along the lines of "not
wearing the correct shoulder flashes" or "wrong type of helicopter".
It's a drama, not a documentary. - Re: Quentin Tarantino Sued Over Kill Bill Character [link]

- Re: My 35 WAR MOVIES better than Hurt Locker Then why do you add two spaces when you begin a new sentence?
- Re: My 35 WAR MOVIES better than Hurt Locker
I have my own. I have seen war movies I liked and many I
haven't. Same goes for westerns, detective, horro, or any other
genre. But when it comes to war films I've seen a few I like. I can
tell you what I don't like. I don't like when films are made about
wars that are still going on, or even wars that ended not so long - Re: "Tonight, Another, *FIRST*, For The Oscars....!!"

Supposed insiders are saying now that leaving Farrah out wasn't on
purpose or because of a conscious decision, but more because someone
screwed up and simply forgot. I don't know how that could possibly
happen but the Academy making their lame excuses is just ridiculous. - Re: "Tonight, Another, *FIRST*, For The Oscars....!!"

Well, I have to admit you're right.
There is so much truth in what you say that I can't find any place to quibble.
Well thanks again for your sage guidance. - Re: Did The Oscars Get Anything Right?
I don't think you even have to be a vet to see how unrealistic it
was. An old John Wayne war movie had more realism. - Re: Academy: Farrah Fawcett Omitted Because of TV-Heavy Career "Ben" for Willard, The Wiz, Captain Eo, and This Is It.
